Keeping up with web trends.
Being a designer in the tech/web industry, it is very important for me to stay up to date with trends. If you are new to the industry, you might be overwhelmed by the amount of information you find on the Internet.
I would like to share with you a handful of websites I frequently visit to learn as well as to find inspiration.
This is a popular online magazine targeting professional web designers & developers. You will find many good articles which cover a wide range of topics related to the business of web design. They also frequently have high quality freebies up for grabs as well.
Dribble is “show and tell for designers.” This is where users share 400 x 300 px screenshots of what they are working on. Dribble is great for keeping up with the latest design trends.
Pattern Tap is all about collecting specific designs and patterns of user interaction for web and mobile. When I need inspiration as to specific web elements, I often turn to Pattern Tap.
I recommend you to take a good look at their “Playground” section. It includes many experiments/plugins where you can explore some really cool effects for possible use on the web.
This website is dedicated to tools & resources for web developers. Most of the tools listed in this site are presented in a very visual way; I find that this mode of presentation is easier for me to understand than just lines of codes – yes, even experienced designers do not find lines of codes easy to grasp.
In my opinion this is the best web showcase on the planet. If you are pressed for time and desperately need some inspiration, this is THE website to turn to, it contains many exceptional websites to inspire you.
This is a good UX resource. Konigi is the creator of the very well-known “OmniGraffle Wireframe Stencils freebie.”
I like to keep my list of useful sites on my “landing page”. That way I can quickly browse through them whenever I find the need for some inspiration.
